Red-breasted Merganser drake swimming following a dive
A male Red-breasted Merganser (Mergus serrator) swimming at sunset. This adult is in breeding plumage and is showing the distinctive spiky feathers on its head. He was actively diving for fish, and is covered with icy beads of water.
